The so-called ‘weekend pill’ will soon be made by generic manufacturers, as Eli Lilly’s patent on the drug is expected to expire in the UK 14 November 2017, and will be made available soon after from.
The patent for Cialis expired in March 2015 in Brazil, and is now available in that country as generic tadalafil from Sandoz.

Carmen Lopez said the man had ordered "a fake Viagra" that could be fake, but said the drug was the real deal.

The article said the US doctor, who was not authorized to discuss the matter, told the article that Lopez had ordered the drugs to sell, saying "he needed the drugs to treat his condition".
The article also said Lopez, who is an actor, said he had been given a prescription for the fake drug because he wanted to "paint the streets".
In a statement, the newspaper said: "We are stunned that the doctor had a personal order to sell the fake drug, and we believe that this would have had a positive effect on the sale of the fake drug and the safety of patients."
Lopez is in his 80s.
